FAQ

  • HOW MANY TIMES CAN YOU RECHARGE THE BATTERY? WHAT IS ITS LIFE SPAN?
Battery life is measured in complete charge cycles. Once this number of cycles has been exceeded, the battery will see it's lifespan gradually decrease. Our batteries are designed to maintain their full performance over 1000 charge cycles. This corresponds to a distance traveled between 15,000 to 50,000 km (equivalent to 3 to 7 years of use), depending on the use it has had.
  • IN CASE OF OCCASIONAL USE, HOW CAN WE MAINTAIN THE BATTERY?
When usage is only occasional or not at all, it is advisable to recharge the battery semi-regularly (once a month). This will prevent it from completely draining and losing some of its power.
  • CAN YOU RIDE WITHOUT ASSISTANCE OF THE MOTOR? (WHEN THE BATTERY IS DEAD FOR EXAMPLE)
The concept is - bicycle - assisted by electric motor. It is therefore absolutely possible to ride without this assistance. The user will of course feel the excess weight of the bike in this instance.
  • WHERE CAN I RECHARGE MY BATTERY?
All our bold bikes are accompanied by a charger which can be plugged into a standard 220V outlet. This is the same charging principle as for any mobile device equipped with an electric battery (camera, telephone, etc.). No outlet in your garage? No problem, our batteries are removable and can be taken out of the bike for easy recharging at home.
  • SHOULD YOU WAIT FOR THE BATTERY TO BE COMPLETELY DRAINED BEFORE RE-CHARGING?
No, our batteries are designed so that partial charges have no impact on their lifespan. However, we recommend running the battery completely empty before charging during the first 3 charges, as a sort of running-in period which optimizes the balancing of the cells making up the battery.
  • DO YOU NEED TO PEDAL TO POWER THE MOTOR?
All our bold models are equipped with a technology that allows you not ride without needing to pedal using a "trigger" located at the left end of the right handle. By pressing the trigger, you start the engine up to it's maximum power. It is also possible to pedal like on a classic bike. By pedalling, the sensor located in the crankset, will activate the motor. There is also 1 other function, whereby, holding down the button + of the display, activates the engine up to a speed of 6km/h. This function allows you to walk alongside the bike without difficulty in the event of a climb or if there is loose sand.
  • WHAT HAPPENS IN THE CASE OF A BREAKDOWN? WHAT ARE THE SPECIFIC MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES? ARE THEY SIMILAR TO A TRADITIONAL BICYCLE?
The bicycle part of a BOLD is identical to that of a classic bicycle. Maintenance/repair operations are carried out in the same way as a classic bicycle (changing cables, changing a tire, tightening brakes, lubricating the chain, etc.). You can do these yourself or contact your nearest bicycle dealer. With regards to the specific elements of the e-bike (battery, motor), you should contact a specialist for any areas of maintenance. We invite you to contact us in any case so that we can help to find the best solution to deal with your problem as soon as possible. Depending on whether the item concerned is still under warranty or not, different repair methods will be offered to you (standard exchange, return of the defective part, etc.).
  • HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CHARGE THE BATTERY?
The charging time depends on the capacity of the battery, it goes from 7h to 10h. A good time to charge is over night.
  • IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH MY BOLD, WHAT AFTER-SALES SERVICE DO YOU PROVIDE? WHAT ASSISTANCE DO YOU OFFER?
We would encourage you to contact our technical department, especially if your Bold is still under warranty. You can get in touch through our ‘contact us’ section, either by phone or email. If your Bold is still under warranty, we would invite you to bring your bike back to us or our team can pick it up from your home. Any issues needing repair listed within the guarantee will be covered by Bold. Any issues not listed within the guarantee, will be invoiced to the customer according to the rates at the time.
  • HOW LONG WILL THE BATTERY LAST?
The autonomy of a Bold depends on several factors: - The type of battery chosen (560Wh, 720Wh, 820Wh, 960Wh, 1010Wh), - The weight of the user, - The type of terrain (hilly or flat). - Alongside the power of the motor it comes down largely to the level of assistance used: the autonomy will be significantly reduced if the maximum assistance is permanently activated. Conversely, it will be prolonged if the assistance of the motor is regulated according to fatigue of the user, the wind, or the slope. For this reason, we base our figures on an average range (flat ground, 70 kg user, no wind, assistance levels 3 out of 5) and a range of range representing extreme cases. The following ranges are calculated for a 500W motor. We also have 350W motors on some of our bikes and to find the range that corresponds with this motor you simply must multiply the range by 1.43. Example: with a 560Wh battery and a 500w motor I travel an average of 30km, with a 350w motor I travel on average: 30x1.43= 42.9 km. So, I should be able to travel an average of 42.9 km with a 350W motor and a 560Wh battery.
